Ryan White Case Management
The Ryan White CARE Act allows people with HIV/AIDS, who otherwise would not be able to access care, to obtain medical care, pharmaceuticals, dental care, mental health counseling, and substance abuse counseling. Ryan White services are available to clients whose income is at or below 400% of the federal poverty level.
For those who do not qualify for case management services, please see the peer navigation program. The peer navigation program provides support services to everyone who is HIV positive.
We have staff who speak fluent English, Spanish and Creole.
Project Response, Inc. provides linkage to primary and specialty HIV/AIDS health care in an outpatient setting. Those services include basic medical care in coordination with a Primary Care Physician (PCP) and/or an Infectious Disease Physician. Laboratory tests (viral load and CD4 count tests), diagnostic tests (imaging, pathology), and others routine tests and exams to maintain good health may also be provided. For eligible clients with private health insurance or Medicare, case managers can arrange for assistance with deductibles and co-pays.
Case managers are able to assist clients in meeting their medication needs throught the Ryan White Program and/or enroll them in the AIDS Drug Assistance program (ADAP). ADAP is a part of Ryan White administered by local health departments. ADAP provides many drugs that are used on an ongoing basis to treat HIV disease and related conditions. Other medications, or co-pays for medications, that cannot be obtained from ADAP can often be provided through Ryan White pharmacy services.
Eligible clients may access Project Response’s on-site food pantry twice per month and receive supplies of non-perishable food. In accordance with Federal law and U.S. Department of Agriculture policy, the food pantry is prohibited from discriminating based on race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability. Our frozen food program is also available on site.
Individual counseling is available through referrals to Burnham Woods, Champa & Associates, Counseling and Psychiatric Centers, Inc. Burnham Woods is a medically based, multidisciplinary psychiatric outpatient program.
Project Response operates a passenger van that provides transportation to medical appointments and social services appointments within and out-of-county.
Dental care can be provided through the Ryan White Program. Generally, routine exams, X-rays, cleanings, fillings, extractions, and periodontal treatment can be provided.
Project Response provides thousands of dollars of direct assistance to its clients each year through the Housing Opportunities for Persons With AIDS (HOPWA) program. The HOPWA program is to provide short-term, stabilizing interventions to HOPWA eligible households experiencing a financial crisis as a result of their HIV/AIDS health condition or a change in their economic circumstances. HOPWA assistance is a preventive housing intervention intended to reduce the risks of homelessness, and when utilized together with other HOPWA efforts, including access to health care services, case management, benefits counseling, and employment or vocational services, works to stabilize assisted households. Low-income persons (at or below 80 percent of area median income) that are medically diagnosed with HIV/AIDS and their families are eligible to receive HOPWA-funded assistance.If the emergency expense cannot be paid through the HOPWA program, Project Response may have other limit resources to meet those needs.Project Response cannot grant all requests it receives for emergency financial assistance, and requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
In order to become a client of Project Response, Inc. and receive all available and pertinent case management services, you will need to qualify for services based upon the Ryan White program’s and Florida’s criteria. She will set up your initial intake interview and will assign you to a Case Manager for services review and access.
